Hi there...my Cavalier had a beautiful litter of 4 pups...5 to 7 ozs at birth.  At 2 weeks, today, they are all at 25 ounces so they are growing nicely and quickly.  The problem I have is that the mom will not clean their bottoms.  She does their front eagerly so weeing is not a problem but will NOT do their poop.  I have been stimulating them to go regularly but have been having a hard time and am practically forcing them to go so they go at least once a day.  I have been using a cotton swab dipped in warm water. Does anyone have tips on how to get them to poop easily?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

not sure if this is much help...but when one of my cavaliers whelped she wasn't keen on cleaning either the vet told us to smother something tastey on pups then mum was happy to lick it off it was only a day or so and then she kept them nice and clean .....

I always have the opposite problems how to stop the bitch eating the pups poo.  Mien would clean up after their pups forever if I didn't try to beat them to it.
