We have a border terrier dog of 18mnths. He has all his papers. We would love to breed him but dont know if he is old enougth or anyone with a compatable bitch.

Have a read of the first post on the Breeding forum of this site (about "putting a pet dog to stud"). Then contact your dog's breeder or the breed club for further advice.
