I really want to let my irish setter have a litter. The only problem is i cannot find a stud dog. I live in the Cornwall area and would be prepaired to go to devon for the stud dog. Does anyone know where i could find one she will come into season in about two weeks time please help

Hi Guest, I'm in Irish Setters and could well point you in the right direction but I would need the answers to some questions first.

Who is the breeder of your bitch?
How old is the bitch?
Do you show her?
Has she done any winning?
What is her PRA and Clad status? You do know that the Kennel Club will not register pups bred from untested or carrier parents as of July this year.

It's free to join so please do and we can chat.

Dawn R.

PS oops I just realised you said in the next two weeks, sorry you have left it too late for this time, these things shouldn't be rushed.

I saw this post and was ready to come on and ask all the same questions lol.
I'm in Setters too guest and have been through all the health tests needed, I know my line will be hereditary clear if I make sure the dog I use is also clear of PRA and Clad. Lots of puppy buyers these days are aware of Health tests for breeding dogs and bitches and will not touch a litter from untested parents.
I really hope the guest chooses to register as there is loads of help and advice on this board which could well make his/her life much easier if they did choose to breed from their bitch.
