What would happen if a breeder put endorsments on a pups kc and it did a fair bit of winning at shows, was a good example of the breed, and the breeder refused to lift the endorsments?

If the endorsements stated that the dog has certain health tests carried out before breeding and they are not done they do not have to remove them until it is done so.

and if everything was good all the health  tests were good and they still wouldn't lift the endorsement what could you do?

As long as the owner knew of the endorsements and signed to say so, then there is nothing they can do.

To be precise the endorsements themselves can ONLY say that no progeny are to be registered (R)  and/or that the dog is not to be issued an export pedigree (X). The actual endorsement on the registartion certificate will not say anything else. So any agreement about them being lifted on proof of say satisfactory health testing would have to be in a contract drawn up by the breeder, not any official KC form.

Well, normally breeders agree to lift endorsements, on the fulfilment of agreed criteria, and a signature is obtained to ensure the buyer is aware of everything. So unless these criteria are met 100% then it should not be expected for the endorsement to be lifted, even if the dog/bitch is winning, health tests might still not be passed.

So the answer to your question is, perhaps nothing would happen!

If the agreement is not kept then the best thing to do is get in touch with the kennel club and explain the situation. But before i did that i would want to get in touch with the breeder asking the reason they are un-willing to life the endorsements.

just wondered because an awful lot of breeders are endorsing kc's,we are still researching our chosen breed

Just remember though, that endorsing is a breeders way of doing what they can to protect their puppies, So endorsing is not a bad thing per se.

but say if someone wanted to breed a litter, and the breeder didn't lift the endorsement and they still decided to breed without this,How can that be protecting a puppy?
- By ice_cosmos Date 05.08.05 21:59 UTC
It ensures that the resulting pups could not be registered. It hopefully would make people think twice about having a litter.

If you want to breed a litter, it is only fair to tell the breeder this when you buy the puppy, then all the cards are on the table and everyone knows where they stand.
