Is this done by a normal vet? on adverage what is the price?

If you want good plates done then you really need a vet who does have experience of taking X rays of  Hip Scoring which nit all vets have & you need good plates so that they do not get rejected & your dog re x rayed

As to costs well they vary a lot depending on the vet & the area you live in

Barbara posted the current fees here

Well I've just had my 5 year old done today.  This is the dog that will be stood next to you one second and the next she'll be above your head :d  I've heard what I now realise is an old wives tail that if your dog is too active, bounces up and down this can make the results bad as it can cause damage. Carina has been doing this from about 7 weeks of age and I was worried and had tried all sorts to stop her.  Well looking at the films today I don't think it has caused any problems at all and they look better than my other girl who scored 5/5 so I've got everything crossed and hope it's not too long before her results come back :d

The bone structure looked really strong too.  She definitely seemed to have more bone than my other two although she is a more compact solid dog so I suppose that I should of expected this.

:) I know that bouncing to greet you at nose level Fizz my youngest BC has always done this and yes like you I worried about the effects on hips well she was hipscored in June and I was pleased to say they came back at 4/4 so maybe the spring greeting isnt so bad after all :D

I hope that Carina's come back about that then, looking at my other dogs films I'm hoping that they will, everything crossed.
