Hello! Well I have finally applied for my prefix/affix! I sent away about 15 choices, hopefully one will be ok! Can anyone tell me how long it took for theirs to come through? Problem is it has to be passed by both IKC and KC....so guess it will be a long time!

If it involves the IKC you can be sure it will take ages, their cust service is terrible compared to the english, they are rude, unhelpful and rush you off the phone!  Ayway it took a while for mine to come back (just english kc) but they had to call and write to me as none of my initial requestes were granted :(  So I guess it took about 4 weeks which isn't bad but I was dead eager to get it back :)

Good luck, I was pulling my hair out by the time I had submitted trillions of choices mine either were the same as, sounded like or similar to!  arrrgggghhhhhh I was quite abrupt with the lady at the KC then had to phone her 5 mins later to apologise and submit some more choices - poor lady.

you will get your afix back but don't forget you can not use it straight away, you can use it 4 weeks after it has appeared in the kc gazzette. if you email the kc and ask if the names you have chosen have been accepted and they say no you can email them another 6 choices i did and one of those was accepted

Thanks everyone! :) It sounds like I will be waiting quite a while then! And I didnt know about the extra 4 weeks after it goes into the KC Gazette!! Thank you for all the info, it is good to know what time scale to expect! pleanty fo time to think of some new choices in the event they are needed!!

I was lucky. I went to Crufts and while I was there I looked at the affix book to see if the one I had chosen was in there, it wasn't so I went and spoke to someone and about 20mins later and £70.00 lighter!! I had my certificate in my hand!!

I find it is best to ring the Kennel club with your choices to check if they are already taken, that saves you wasting time.

The trouble with the qaffix bok is it will be out of date befroe it is printed as people apply and are granted affixes all the time.

Hi Labs, you were so lucky!!! :) I really hope it works cos I was told by some friends that the IKC has to pass it (as I am in Ireland) and then they send it to the KC after that and hope it passes there too! :( and only then will it be granted! thank goodness I am only doing this once in my lifetime!!! Brainless thats a great idea, I will them and see what are the chances of my choices getting passed by them!
