If any of you want to see a good film with the kids it is excellent.  I went with a feeling of dread and loved it.

I really liked the film thought it was stunning but sad to say i still prefer the old Gene Wilder version.

Well worth the money to go see it tho!

Mmmm...Jonny Depp and Chocolate in the same film. My idea of heaven.....:p

Only thing I can imagine that would be better would be Jonny Depp, covered in chocolate and beckoning to me..... :D

Will go now and save you from any more of my sordid thoughts ;)

You can keep Jonny Depp but I'll have the chocolate. Is it a musical version?

My hubby and I went to watch it, and we don't have kids :)

Thought it was great, Johnny Depp's facial expressions and the way he spoke was excellent, fantastic acting I thought.  Funny too.

We enjoyed it but not sure about the Umpa Lumpas!!
- By keeley [gb] Date 03.08.05 08:57 UTC
Weren't they all just the same man?!  That's what it looked like to me!  Not as good as the umpa lumpa's on the last film!
- By Star [in] Date 03.08.05 10:49 UTC
We thought it was the same guy. Also sound was not too clear on the UL songs. Still a good film tho'

Yeah we noticed that too, couldn't hear a damn word they were singing half the time!  Glad I watched it though - really enjoyed it.

I went to see it today :D - Johnny Depp might be a bit hunky but not when he's playing freaky Willy Wonka with really bad hair.

despite the amazing teeth!

My wife absolutely loves johnny depp , this is the reason why i refuse to take my family to see this film!
- By ana_x [gb] Date 05.08.05 19:54 UTC
I saw it the other day, it was alright... I thought it was better than the first one, the story was explained a bit more... but I don't think it would've been as good as it was without Johnny!

"Everything in this ROOM is eatable! Even I'M eatable!"

hehehe :)

My friend said it was rather dark and Mr Wonka was rather sinister and spooky, instead of just a bit oddball like in the books. Must go and see it myself if I ever have time!!
- By voors [gb] Date 07.08.05 14:38 UTC
Johnny Depp was great as Willy Wonka but i thought the film was terrible!! Not a patch on the original they left bits out and changed bits round :( But i did like how it went into willy wonkas background more. Don't you think the umpa lumpas in pvc were really disturbing???
- By abigail [gb] Date 08.08.05 07:37 UTC
sorry i don't agree :(  my daughter loved it but not my kinda thing love the old one tho
- By mygirl [gb] Date 08.08.05 08:30 UTC
As far as i was aware the new film is closer to the book than the old version (which i loved)

Like the squirrels that was in the book and the new film, the older version changed that and did golden eggs instead!

The umpa lumpas were indeed one man computer generated to make hundreds.

And i couldn't hear the words on the songs properly either :(
