I have posted about random topics to do with my Yorkie, he is now 7 months and wasnt completely house trained and was still biting quite a bit.  I was at the end of my teather with the smell of wee then the smell of lemon (clean and get off spray), and the biting. 

I had my new sofa delivered the other day and my brother came round and the dog jumped up as usual and my brother asked me "how much did this sofa cost?" so I told him and he immediately picked up Arthur, put him on the floor and said off.

I have decided to keep this up and also at the same time decided to get him his own cosy bed and make him sleep in the kitchen at night (instead of my bed).  I was worried about bringing in these changes after him having so long in the house with not many rules.

Well I have been astounded with the change in him.  No more biting and not one wee in the house!!!!!  He did 1 whimper about every 3 minutes last night for about 25 mins and the night before was the same, but I get the feeling it was from his bed in the kitchen because there wasnt much effort put into it.  He still plays like mad during the day and we take him for a big run so hes tired for the night.

Do you think that keeping him off the furniture and restricting him to just downstairs could stop the biting and weeing....?  He just seems happier in himself.

The change of rules have probably made him realise who the boss is! Keep it up, and dont back down when he seems "off colour" or whatever.

It sounds as though having rules makes him feel much more secure, so he's happier! Excellent - keep it up!

I think it might be the other way round JG.  Maybe the rule changes has made him think "Aye Aye I wonder what she'll come up with next I'd better be on me best behavour and pay attention to what she wants" :)

I think it is the consistancy that will be giving a sense of security rather than the new rules in themselves but maybe you meant that rather than change :)
