Don't know why I haven't asked this before because it has always fascinated me...

how do you get your dogs to stand in that way?  ie. back legs slightly back from the body, front legs straight down?  They look fabulous.  Neither of my two stand in that way (I don't mind of course) :D

Thanks

To some it comes naturally but you also have to put in a lot of ring work with them, patience and LIVER :D

It's like most things with dogs, time, patience and consistency can help you achieve most things however many dogs walk straight in to the correct position - you just have to keep them there for a while LOL :)

I am sure they do when they see something interesting in the distance standing proud.  In the showring we are trying to achieve this effect through training, eitgher for them to hold a pose or to show interest in food or a toy, or both methods are used in soem breeds.

Ditto what the others have said I like my dogs to free stand even the GSDs when I showed them were trained to walk into a stand. With my Cavaliers & BCs I  simply teach a stand stay & reward when they are stood correctly Well it simple in theory ;) some are quicker than others to grasp the idea

LOL tonight will be Roys first club night & he's off just for socialization & a stay stand if possible(which I doubt)

Now staying still whilst the judge goes over them is another thing LOLOLOLOL :D

Tigger can do a perfect rocking horse but the rest are just natural.  The beagle is so docile it just lets itself being placed.  :)
