Topic Dog Boards / Health / Molly being spayed tomorrow
- By carol99 [gb] Date 01.08.05 18:48 UTC
Molly's pups are 12 weeks old now and the vet suggested tomorrow as the date she should be spayed. I'm a bit nervous about it, do you agree this is the right time for her operation, is her behaviour towards the pup we kept likely to change do you think?  They said because she is young and fit she should recover really quickly, but I suppose I'm just wanting a bit of moral support!

Hi carol99 i had a bitch spayed 14wks after her last litter of puppies and she was fine no side effects no sign of a false pregnancy and like you we kept a pup from the litter and although we had to keep her quiet for a few days and keep him away so she could have some peace within a week after her operation they were fine together, try not to worry im sure she will be fine.Ive now got one here who has just had a hysterectomy last thursday and she is wonderful with my others although she is having lots of TLC and quiet times
sending hugs for your girl xxxx

Thanks so much for your lovely reply.  Molly is back home, very groggy and wobbly but still wagging her tail.  Max (her puppy) is being as good as he can be.  He got a bit boistrous round her and she gave a little low growl and he backed off.  I took him down on the field and did half an hours training, sit, come here, fetch the ball, in an effort to quiet him down and its worked, he's now fast asleep at the side of his mum.
Fingers crossed everything will be OK.

Hi carol99
so pleased that molly is home yes she will be groggy possibly until tomorrow but they soon recover and get back to normal.make sure she gets water then she doesnt dehydrate and max gets his exercise lol. i had the same with my pup he was so pleased to see his mummy again that he got a little excited and after a short time he knew not to bother her.
sending molly extra hugs for a speedy recovery

Molly got a good night's sleep and I was very pleased to see her tail wagging this morning!  She's getting better by the hour, Max is being a little mischevious but on the whole he's a good lad.  I'm giving Molly loads of attention and TLC and I think she's going to be fine - she even wagged her tail at the window cleaner!  I think she knows she's very special.
Thanks for your support.
