i've been researching in to different types of breeds and i was wondering if yorkshire terriers were a good family pet. Are they a bit yappy?

We have had 3 yorkies over the past 34 years!  they are bright, intelligent and happy little dogs.  I think their temperament will be shaped by the level of care they receive.  If they are brought up in a fairly well controlled environment then they are wonderful pets.  If they are brought up with children, and not much time is available to train and shape their behaviour, it is likely they may be a bit troublesome and yappy!  Like children, they need lots of love, care and a bit of discipline!
