I am using a Homeopathic Anxiety Remedy and also a DAP spray to help my pups SA, we have had some success and hopefully he will continue to improve.
My question is will I always need to use the remedy and DAP spray or will he gradually be able to be weaned of them. I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that both these can be used long term with no side effects.
I am not certain about long term use of the homeopathic option but DAP is fine. However I would suggest that you should be trying to gradually reduce then remove them as you dogs confidence improves. They shouldnt be a solution in themselves, just enough to take the edge off and make progress, you then have the option to reintroduce them if you find another situation that your dog is anxious about as training progresses.

If you are using homoeopathy correctly it is used only until the problem is resolved or as needed depending whether or not you are using it for the symptomatic treatment of a condition or as a constitutional remedy.
Remember, homoeopathic remedies are made from what CAUSES symptoms and so if you use a remedy for longer than necessary or the wrong one for a period of time you can CAUSE what you intended to cure.............
Flower essences can be used ad infinitum but should not need to be.
Few remedies of any sort whether allopathic or homeopathic are generally of use without the adjunct of behavioural modification.
Thanks I have stopped using anything when he is left in the car, he seems happy enough now, just using the DAP spray and a quick couple of drops in mouth of the Anxiety remedy when he is left in the house, which isn't often, I can hopefully continue to build up the time he can cope with being left, but it's inavoildable that sometimes he has to be left longer than he has learn't to cope with yet.
