Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / worried about springer
- By STARRYEYES Date 01.08.05 20:08 UTC
My friend has a show springer (doesnt show) who has just turned 4 and half yrs she also has a puppy now 4 and half m she is concerned about the older dog  as she has gone very quiet not the usually lively springer she used to be she doesnt appear to be ill or anything but she is obsessed with food and has been put on a no treat diet.....as she is food orientated and has been told by the vet that she is slightly overweight (spayed) my friend is worried about her change in behaviour as she does OB/AG in a team and has plenty of exercise good 2hrs a day but doesnt seem interested and seems lethargic and has lost her spark !!!
Could this be her age .......new puppy who she loves they are the best of friends ..........does she need a change .....is she bored ?????

any advice would be appreciated...thanks
(she is going to get her checked over by the vet)

It could be that the bitch is now using all of her energy playing with the new pup? Or her nose could have been put out of joint by it?

I think her nose has been put out of joint.  It is happening to a friend of mine with a new pup at the moment.

All you can do is try and spend some quality time with the older one, take her out on her own now and again and have one to one play sessions.

My friends dog is gradually coming around now.
