Went for a walk yesterday.Met up with a couple with an elkhound bitch who had come from the usual 'puppy supermarket' up here.One of her first questions was ...we want her to have puppies can we use one of your boys.I then explained about her dogs lack of 'proper' registration and health tests in as polite way as I could to get an immediate ''well we'll go and buy a male then....didn't want to cos they're such hard work to live with!''
Breed standard issues apart - it always puzzles me when people say males are too much trouble. I've only had two bitches out of seven dogs and they were *far* more...well I wouldn't say trouble exactly but feisty and impulsive. And I know we found our daughter a lot more trying than our son, especially as a teenager...

No...she said elkhounds as a breed are a pain to live with....and yet wants to breed!!

Sounds like she thinks there's money to be made. Whatever happens it will be to the detriment of however many poor puppies she helps into this world. It's grim :(
BTW how's the new addition?
