Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / We are ready for a pup...

We are finally ready to make the commitment to have a pup. We are a family of 3 and would like a pup to join our family.

We would like a small dog that would be good with children.  The dog being no bigger than a cocker.

Please may any of you give me some advice into what breed??

Thank-you.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels make wonderful family dogs. You need to take care though to buy from a good breeder as many are bred by people just out to make a fast buck, and the breed does have various health problems. (The same does go for most breeds of course, the reponsible breeders will do all relevant health testing of their breeding dogs to make sure they breed pups that end up as healthy as only possible.)

This is a good website for cavalier info: http://www.thecavalierclub.co.uk/

Hi,
If this is your first pup? If it is, decide, do you want a dog that needs lots of exercise?
Or a couch potato? Long or short haired? The net has a lot of sites that tells you about
lots of diffrent breeds, do a lot of homework first, find one that suites your life style,
Fits in your car! As they make a great family addition, unconditional love, for an average
12+ years. Best of luck,
Regards
Denese
