Hi Guys,
as you may have read in one of my earlier posts i have adopted a 12 month old rottweiler thats a bit nervous.
I went picking him up today, as i arrived to see him he seemed very nervous again but as soon as i got him out of the kennel he was brilliant, he needed a bit of persuation to get in the back of the car but after he did he was fine all the way home.
we got him home and let him have a sniff round, and he did a pee and a poo straight away in the front room :) but i just left him to it and thought i will let him settle in before i say anything, so i wnet about cleaning it up. after this i fed him and he perked up a little bit, i then had to go and buy him some more food and essentials so left him in the house with my mum.
when i was shopping i was ringing my mum every 10 minutes to check he was ok, my mum said he was brilliant and was just sleeping in the middle of the floor, she then text me and said he had walked upto her give her a paw, and then climbed onto the chair and sat on her! :) i was so happy thinking that 2 days ago this poor dog would run away from anybody, but no was sitting on my mums knee the funny thing is he is massive!
so i get back from shopping with my girlfriend, and he seems quite nervous again with three of us there but we each took turns in giving him treats and her perked up again.
so i thought i will take him for a walk and see if he does anything, we were out for 30 mins with no luck so we went home, he just fell asleep in front of the fire, i left him for a while and took him out again and he had a pee and a poo!! i was so happy so we strolled home and now he is asleep again downstairs bless him i love him so mutch already!!!
sorry for the length of the post but i thought i would keep you updated with his first day in his new home :)
John

Keep up the good work John and hope everything turns out well xxxx

I'm so pleased you're getting on fine with your dog. I took on a rescue dog 2 years ago and he changed my life! Took him about 6 months or so to really settle in and feel at home and he still has his foibles, but he's a fantastic dog in most respects.
Hope you have many happy times together :)

John, its lovely to hear how well he's settled in so far. Hopefully with lots of love and attention he'll forget about his earlier, less happy life. :-)
Please keep us posted with his story as you go on with him!! :D
What have you called him? I read on your other thread that he didn't have a name :-(
I've been following your posts John and I'm really pleased that things are working out so well for you and your new friend. It's sounds to me as if this special dog has been very lucky to have found the special owner he deserves.
No doubt there'll be a few hiccups along the way but things do look very promising :)
Best wishes.
I'm so pleased for you :-) reading your post bought a tear to my eye's :-)
Oh that is fab news, they are a fantastic breed :D :D It seems to be a rottie trait to give you a paw 'demanding a belly rub' and to sit on you ;) I hope he comes out of his shell and learns that he is here to stay with a loving family. Well done, pat yourself on the back it is a brave and great thing you have done :)
BTW, what is his name? Maybe you could send me an email with a piccie when you get one, would love to see him?
Good luck
Kelly + the 2 lumps :)
LOL :-P @ sitting on your mums lap, could just imagine it. So pleased to hear he's settling in so well. Keep up the good work.
I am so glad that this big boy has found a loving home. I am sure that he will settle in well. They are a very loving breed. Email me a piccie when you have one.
Hi Guys,
I have decided to call him deon, the reason for this is because when my staffie was poorly a vet came from wales to treat her, and tried his best for her for a full week, and he even cried when she didnt make it, and i said if a got a male dog in the future i would call it after him! so i did :)
i will get my digi camera out as soon as i can and let you all see my little man!!
John
Its a cool name. Where about in the country are you? I took Breeze to a training session yesterday run by the Rottie Association in Hertfordshire, and its not just for puppies. Its worth considering taking him to something like this fo socialising, obedience and even agility. It was great fun.
