Hi can anyone tell me waht to use for itchy paws, my dog seems to chew at them, and she seems to be scratching at her ears too.

My dog is doing exactly the same thing and has been for the past 12 months :-( Sounds allergy related to me. Our dog has pink feet through all the chewing and scratches his right ear and makes it bleed. He is on Atopica at the moment but doesn't seem to be working :-(
Have you tried giving her Piriton tablets (the ones with 30 in the box - the drowsy type?) Our dog is a Bichon Frise and the vet said it was safe to give him up to 3 a day(8 hours apart) It might be a good idea to take your dog to the vet for a proper diagnosis :-)
Yes my vet said they chew and lick at they're feet when they have an allergy. Hi izzie, what do you feed your dog on? and what breed do you own?
warm regards Susan

my boy bit his paws lots when his anal glands were blocked. It could be that.

Stupid me, i was only half awake when i wrote that!! i have groomed her this afternoon and not found anything on her, except her ears a bit brown.
Ear mites stay in the ear, i'm sure they get them off grass with they're ears standing rather than folding they're more suceptible to getting them although that doesn't mean all dogs get them.

Actually I'm not too sure whether the mites can get in between the dogs toes too when they scratch their ears then the mites could transfer to their feet. Try Thornit because it is recommended that you put it on the dogs feet as well so it might just work.

Thanks for all the helpful info i have had a search for Thornit on the web and found some. At £6.95 it is worth a try . I will let u know how we get on ordered some this morning. It says use on feet and ears ad anal too, for ear mites. Gonna be cheaper than a trip to the vets!

Hi Hailey, I got my thornit from a website called www.championpetsonline.co.uk and their delivery was very quick too, within a couple of days if I remember correctly :-)
I have just looked and it is £6.20 + £2.95 for vat and delivery, they also do bigger bottles too that may work out cheaper in the long run :-)
Don't know whether it is the same website though as Izzie mentioned, it does say on there that it can be used on feet as well.
I got mine from
http://www.dogsstuff.co.uk/ (click on Special Care Products)
It was £7 (£18 for the large size). Postage says £1 on the site but they didn't charge me any on the Thornit. :-)

Interested to see this! We have a problem with one of our girl's anal glands (both of the vets at our surgery find them very hard to express!). She does have a skin problem anyway so I just assumed it was to do with that but I wonder if it could all be connected?
My dog used to do this and it is allergy related. I had to wash his paws with a special shampoo every few days. It could also be used in his ears. I can't remember the name though, (may have some left at home and will let you know) in not have a word with your vet.
