most shows wont allow you to enter a pup until it is 6 months old. This may sound dumb but i am completely new to all this and was wondering if this is 6 calender months or 6x4 weeks. Thanks.

Also your dog has to be six months on the first day of showing, regardless of what day you have entered. My dog missed out on her first show because she was one day too young even though working group was on the second day, the day she was six months! If you see what I mean?

it seems very complicated, but thanks for that info. Where do you cders get your info for up and coming shows and do you have any advise on showing for a newbie, for examples where to start etc.

Shows are often advertised in the weekly papers Dog World or Our Dogs, also there's a useful site for open and champ shows, called prodogs. I would advise you to start with companion and open shows, also find your nearest ringcraft club which will teach you how to stand and move your dog, and get the dog used to the show atmosphere. Good luck!
