Our 5 month old schnauzer puppy has been sick nearly every night this week. He gets in from the dog walkers and throws up on the bed (although not when he's with her). In the last 3 hours, he has been sick 7 times and is now throwing up bile. He is a bit of a scavenger and small bits of sticks were thrown up last week but today I don't know what is causing it. I'm obviously very worried and has anyone got any advice? I'll be taking him to the vets in the morning but I don't know what to do now.
Do I starve him? Give him water? He seems a bit down now and is making little moany noises, although for the last couple of days he has been unable to settle.
Any advice appreciated

Definitely make sure he is drinking plenty of water. Not sure about food, best wait for more expert advice. Possibly a bland chicken and rice meal?

How far is the dog walker taking him and for how long? Perhaps he is overdoing it.
Go to the vet soon as you can get him checked out......

Any dog throwing up more than once, make sure it has water at all times and then the first step should be no food for 24 hours to allow the stomach to rest.

I dont think its the walking times, she's very good about that, its more that he's so greedy! But I'm not even sure if its just that or if he's picked up a bug. Definitely going to vets tomorrow!
Anybody know anything about megasophagus?

Hi jodenice,
Is the pup pooing? If he eates anythink, lets hope nothing is stuck!!
I would take him to the vets to make sure it isn't a virus! but!! I would have
thought if it was, the pup would be sick all day!
I would feed him dry compete food and plenty of water to see if it settles.
Make sure he goes for a wee and poo, if not take him striaght to the vets, then there
could be a blockage.

Hi yes, he is pooing, although infrequently, its so strange, one day he doesn't want any food at all, the next he's jumping up and down for it, I hope the vet will know whats wrong, appointment in about an hour, he seems quite happy but I'm just following him around with a tea towel! (partly to catch it, partly so he doesn't eat it, urrgh!)
What with him and poppys grass seed in paw and operation I am no doubt funding the vets social life! They're draining me!

well took him to the vets where he put on an impressive display of being the perkiest healthiest dog she'd ever me. He had a slight temperature, she said it maybe the tail end of a bug, gave him two injections, I handed over my £50 and brought him home.
Where he immediately violently threw up 3 times on the bed.
*gnashes teeth violently*

Isn't that just typical :D
Well as long as he's on the mend, thats the main thing.

Hi jodenice,
Yes!! I think you are funding his social life. I do think he is a little
expensive. Typical of the pup just like kids arn't they?
Well, at least there can't be to much wrong, I know that doesn't help much egh!!
I would still just feed him dry food to push anythink through just in case, some little
thing is slowing his digestion up. My one Sam when he was a pup used to swollow
sox, now its money notes if he ever see's them, didn't even know untill he pooed them out. Shocked or what!!!!

OK he is still being sick (less often). However, we are noticing a strange pattern. It only ever happens here, in the evening, when he's just got in. It also is much more likely to occur when he's just gulped loads of water. Could it be down to something as simple excitement when getting in, drinking loads, then whizzing round the house like a scud missile and his belly just going gloopy?
Apart from a bit of bug, which appears to be cured, no temperature anymore, this is causing us all to scratch our head and stroke our beards in a bemused manner.

One of my girls is always sick when she has gulped her water down too fast so there could be a connection.
