Today at a companion show i picked up a thing for a open show local to me, its in November and by the Eva will be 8months old. its got a entry form in the middle but where the hell do i start all i know is i want to put her in a puppy class. HELP!!!

Puppy is 6-12 months :)
There should be a page in the schedule that explains all the classes :)

You should have a list of the classes with numbers beside them. I assume you are talking about an open breed show and it is a schedule you have picked up.

If there are breed classes for Border Collies enter her in the puppy class, if no puppy class put her in Junior. If there aren't any breed classes try her in AV Pastoral or AVNSC Pastoral.
There's border collie written on the schedule and next to it a bunch of confusing numbers and letters. Im totally hopeless. Also its got a section for breeders details, do i put her name or her prefix?
Its a open show at Stafford County Showground.

lolol the dogs details are as you find them on the KC cert dogs name breed sex dob etc & the breeder is Joe Bloggs, Mr J Bloggs, Mr & Mrs Bloggs etc Sire & dam exactly as on the KC cert
The the numbers & letters are probably the class numbers & which class
for example
1 MPD minor puppy dog
2 PD puppy dog are the numbers & letters like these ?

You put your breeders name in for the breeders details. It should give the classes available for Border Collies with a number next to it. Whatever the number is next to the puppy class you enter that number in the box for classes entered. You will also need to enter you dogs full registered name and the date of birth and the sire and dam.

I forgot is is probably shown as PD etc, no wonder you are confused :)
under border collie it has 8j 9.pg and 10.o,
i've got till 24th of October to understand the entry form lol.

Class 8 is Junior
Class 9 is Post Graduate
Class 10 is Open
As you have a puppy the lowest class you can enter is Junior, which is for dogs up to 18 months. Looks like there is not a puppy class scheduled.
right so ill enter her in junior then, thats that bit sorted now to sort the rest of my confused head out.

I'm guessing that Class 8 is Junior, class 9 is Post Graduate and class 10 is Open.
Ok another question lol, where the entry fees section is do i tick by it or just put £4 in the box on the right?

Put £4.00 in the box
Right im off to bed now my head hurts enough. Ill get there some day i think.
Thanks so much everyone for all your help!

What about Any Variety Pastoral minor puppy or Puppy if there is one??

Yes, I used to enter the breed puppy OR junior class, and the AV puppy of the appropriate group, then the dog gets 2 classes for experience. I think more than 2 is unfair on a 6 month old puppy!
Hi Hannah
If you want give me a call you have my number and I will go through it box by box with you if you like.
Chances are if it's at Stafford I will be going as well.
Looking at the date. If your coming to Baginton and bring the schedule with you.
I'll PM my number again.
Karen

If you read the regualtions and definition of classes included in the schedule you will get the idea.
My advice would be to enter the breed puppy class if there is one. If there isn't then the lowest class such as Junior. If there aren't breed classes tehn the appropriate Any Variety Not seperately classified.
I woudl also enter AV Puppy stakes and perhaps the Group AV puppy class.
this will give you 3 classes agaionst different kinds of dogs and will give the pup expereince.
If i was to enter 2 classes, is that then the subsequent entry box with the same dog i put the ammount by? Its also got a section about membership do i need that aswel or is that just for certain classes?
Also how do i know if the border collie junior and the any variety puppy are on at the same time but in different rings?

Yes, that's right, subsequent entry with same dog. When you get to the show there should be an order of judging showing you which breeds are in which ring, if not ask the secretary. Then keep your eyes on both rings for the progress of the breeds before you - they can move through pretty fast if entries are low. If you have a friend to go with you they could watch one ring while you are showing in the other?

As this will be your first show, I would just enter the one class. You will be nervous enough without worrying about missing a class.
Use a show or two to get the feel of it, then progress to more classes.

I don't know, I think both you and the dog will get more experience if you go for two classes, specially if a friend can keep an eye on the other ring. But if you do enter two classes and on the day it does happen that you miss one, don't beat yourself up about it, it happens. My friend missed her breed class yesterday even though she was at the show and grooming her dog!!
I think i now under-stand the entry form ish, now as for the rest of it theres no hope. I think ill stick with the one class it will make my life easier and ill only have to remember one thing. Do i get anything back like a reciept when i send the entry form off?
You can put in a SAE if you like then you'll know they've got your entry or just get a proof of posting at the PO(don't forget to take it with you on show day!), either will put your mind at rest :)
