Alaskan Huskies are a type rather than a purebred.  A bit like Lurchers.  They are bred purely for racing, and often have other breeds blood in them.  Selection criteria is work only.  It seems that Pointer blood giving shorter coats is popular in Europe.

An Alaskan Malamute is the draught horse of the sled dog world.  Large and strong and not designed for sprinting.
