Hi Everyone,

Does anyone own or know of any Beagle's that achieved there Bronze Silver and/or Gold KC Good Citizen Test. Just thought I'd do a little survey as I have a Beagle who recently achieved his Gold and are interested to know of any others.

Cheers!

Slightly OT, any other Cavaliers out there with a Gold? Or American cockers, though my boy got up in his down stay, grr!

Yep my Cavalier Rufus has his Gold -which he took aged 9 ½ years when he got bored staying at home. His heart is so bad (the vet told us 3 years ago he'd go any moment!) but he was so depressed not coming to dog club any more that I decided I'd rather he possibly had a sudden heart attack whilst being happy than having longer being miserable at home, so I took him back to training classes after an absense of more than 2 years. He LOVED it, knew just how to pace himself to not overdo it (and I never pushed him of course), and within just 2 weeks he had passed his silver and gold. :) (He'd done his bronze way back in 1995 before it was even called the bronze, it was just the GC test then.) I'm very proud of him!! He passed his Gold on the same night as my 11 month old Golden passed his Gold so I had the youngest and the oldest that night. :D Wonderful boys. :D

Fantastic, well done! My club doesn't do the Gold anymore, so I had to take them to a companion show and I was quite frankly amazed at how well they both behaved when outside with other dogs haring past all the time!! Rather startled the judge in my off lead heelwork because I forgot to tell her my Cav''s a show dog so I haven't taught the sit at heel finish - we did the heelwork reasonably ok and then he swung round in front to finish in his show stand - the look on her face was priceless!! :-)

That's brilliant Lucy, it really is a LOT harder to do the tests in a strange place. Really had a good chuckle at your dog's finish. :D

It was very funny! Also made everyone laugh with his 'stop the dog' - for the first time ever I must have got the right amount of terror and desperation in my shriek of 'WAIT!!!!' as it's the only time he's ever stopped on one command!

Thanks, it did take quite a bit of training, I practised alot for the Gold as I was determind we would pass.

I think I may have seen you at the Beagle Club Champ show on the 11th of June - you have a baby girl Beagle which your daughter handled?

I'm quite new to showing so have only been to two Beagle shows but plan to do more as I'm really enjoying it. My boy has been castrated but I got permisson from the KC to show him and I have to say the Judges that he's been under have been really nice about it. I know he won't do well but he has got two 3rd's in Novice ( there were only three in each class but I was very proud all the same ).  Maybe I'll see you at some other shows, I think I'm going to go to the Welsh Beagle Club in October.
