I've just had a phone call from our younger son to say his brother was mugged last night! A gang of mindless thugs beat up on my son and stole his gold, time and again I've told him not to wear his necklace and bracelet, but he always said 'it's part of my identity Mum it's who I am, I like to wear it' now he's in hospital in a very bad way with fractured jaw and heavens knows what else.
I feel angry, upset, weepy, annoyed it's a lousy society we live in. He's such a gentle guy at heart he didn't deserve this!
Youngest son is on his way now to see him and will let us know a.s.a.p how he really is. His girlfriend phoned our younger son thankfully, she and us don't exactly see eye to eye,but at least she cares enough to let family know.
Sorry to go on but I need to let off steam somewhere today.
Jacqueline.

He's back home now after hospital treatment and was due to give a statement to the police yesterday. He has a fractured jaw, black eyes,a boot imprint on his head and is generally bruised on his body and legs.
Apparently this 'gang' were involved in four separate incidents that same night, so the police will be keen to arrest them! but it has left my son shaken and fearful for his girlfriend and her little girl, who is currently staying with her grandparents!
You're right it is a very sad world we live in and far too violent!
Thank you for all your support and I hope and pray no one else undergoes what my son did!
Jacqueline
So sorry to hear about your son Jacqueline, pleased to hear he's back home, I hope he makes a quick and full recovery.
My son was mugged a few months ago, mobile phone and £90 (S*d's Law, his pal had just paid him for a concert ticket he'd ordered for him) Thankfully he wasn't hurt, I can't begin to imagine what you must be going through. If it's any consolation, the police were great with my son, they couldn't have been more kind and helpful. Thanks to their efforts, one of the muggers has been to court and pleaded guilty. :-)
hugs

It is very sad to hear of stories like these, especially in this day and age when mobile phones become useless quite quickly after being stolen. My son always keeps his mobile in his sock and I used to wonder why!
I do hope your son makes a quick recovery although I guess the emotional scars may take a while to heal.

Thanks for all your support it means so much! I have seen pictures of my son now and I couldn't recognise him at all,his face is so battered and bruised BUT yesterday when I phoned him, he was about to go out with his little step daughter for a short walk?! he just won't let things get him down, he is on pain killers which make him a bit sleepy but he said ' Don't worry Mum I'll be o.k.' I told him to make sure he takes his dog (GSD) with him!
He has to return to hospital Weds. to see if they can xray his nose as they suspect it may be broken, but it was too swollen to do anything with at the time.
To protect his little girl they have told her he fell down the stairs, as she is only 5 and we were so worried how she would react to his horrific looking face.
She told me on the phone 'Daddy tripped down the stairs Nanny so I'm looking after him.' That started my crying off all over again, but he is making good progress, he doesn't seem angry toward the thugs who did this and he doesn't hold out any hopes of the police doing very much, although they were good when they interviewed him, they just said these things occur all too frequently and they don't always catch the villians?
Thank you all once again for your messages.
Jacqueline :)
