My 20 week old lab broke his leg 2 days after i got him, causing a Y-Fracture. He had an operation to repair it using two plates and four screws. Two weeks after he arrived home, two of the srews worked loose and consequently he had to have two larger screws fitted. Has anyone experienced a Y-Fracture on their pup and how has it affected them..........any insight into what problems and other affects i should expect would be gratefully received.
Hi guest cant help on a Y fracture, but my last pup broke his leg at 12wks old just above the growth knuckle in two places, my vet didnt plate his leg he decided it was best to pin his leg with respect to him still growing and reduce the factor of him having one leg shorter than the other, but it was a back leg on my pup which was broke. He is now 13months old and shows no sign of any discomfort infact he did remarkably well i wouldnt worry too much about your puppy ther are far more resilliant than we think
