While robbie is sleeping he pants really fast is that normal ( I have got the heating on). He is normal when awake except when he is terrorising bailey with his sharp claws and razor teeth. Just wondering if thats normal can't remember the puppy stage much.

Panting when asleep (as in toungue out, mouth open?) doesn't sound normal to me....... Can you confirm that it what he's doing?

His tongue isn't out but just breathing really fast. He seems ok just now maybe he is just too hot as he is coming out of his bed and lying tummy down legs stratched out at the back on the cool laminate flooring. He was also born in a barn outside and kept outside so maybe its just the heat we have only had him since saturday and this is the first i have had the central heating on.

For that reason I never have heating in the kitchen so that dogs always have somewhere cool to go to. Where are you that you needed the ehating on, I still ahve all the windows open even though it has been raining on and off last two days?

Are you sure he's not dreaming? Mine very often pant like mad if they are fast asleep and in deep sleep although its usually accompanied by odd whimpers and whines :D
I would have thought as a puppy they have trouble regulating their temp so maybe if you could turn off the rad where he is? without it affecting the whole household.
We have our heating on low now it is quite chilly here (North Wales) but as long as its not on full blast ours are quite acclimatised to it.

We stay in sunny edinburgh ( ha ha). Its been quite cold here recently especially at night heating is only on for a couple of hours the weather changes really sudden hopefully get warmer again.
My 18 week old puppy breathes really fast when he is asleep, he is flat faced so I presumed he is a noisy breather because of that. As he sleeps in his bed next to my bed I probably notice it more as well. He does seem to get quieter as the night goes on.

Hi Bailey
our Westie pup also used to do this when he was sleeping you could see his tummy going ten to the dozen and then he would staying yapping in his sleep think he was just dreaming (he still dreams now) (its funny to watch and listen to him) and he also lays flat out on the floor legs behind him, paws out in front of him (been told its a sign of good hips) so I really think you have nothing to worry about.
