I'm hoping to buy one but I can't find anywhere that sells them here......are they practically extinct here??? I KNOW theyr'e a crossbreed but are they uncommon???

Basically, yes! Most people with quality poodles only breed them with other poodles (and usually sell them for less than the crosses! ;)).

There are many "breeds" that cost the same or less than these crosses, such as Lagotto's, Spanish Water Dogs, Irish Water Spaniels, oh yes and poodles and look fairly similar if it's the curly coat that you like and if you want them to be small with the scruffy curly coat then you can go for a Poodle and not have it clipped in the way that the show dogs are :d

Can't understand why anyone would want a poodle cross, if you are interested in a poodle at all you already have three sizes to choose from. Depending on your life style and what size of house you have, whether you have children and how much time you have to exercise a dog the poodle can fit in to any of these if you pick the correct size to suit your lifestyle!  Not many breeds can offer the versatility of size etc that a poodle can so why on earth would anyone want a cross when you can have the real thing tailored to suit you!

I agree with fifi, I just cannot understand why anyone wants to buy a poodle cross which are being sold for extortionate prices and are just mongrels, when they can buy a beautiful, elegant and fun loving poodle.  The majority of poodle crosses I have seen look quite ugly.  I also notice that on the labradoodle web site they are now advocating neutering the puppies at a very early age, which just tuns my stomach; the idea of subjecting a very young dog to unnecessary surgery is just horrible.
