Ok, so I know dogs do it. But my 8month old SBT bitch (who is in season) has started to do this, but only to her bed. She isnt rubbing herself, just does the humping action.
Anyone shed any light? Is she getting frisky? Does she have issues with her sexuality ? lol?
Its funny to watch, but is it the norm?

LOL it is quite normal ;)
Yes and even more comical when you've got a few girls at it together and the little kids from next door are looking over and you say that they are playing trains :d
but WHY?
She isnt "making contact" so cant be rubbing herself (Im a guy - I dont know if its a girl thing!) ...............
I just dont get it

Just a natural dog behaviour There isn't any real explanation no matter what the behaviourizts like to think ;) It is usually triggered by hormones & pheromones

A new age man ;) - don't feel left out, the female species are programmed to puzzle you! Just try rubbing her rump, above her tail

My friend's bitches often hump each other when in season - just another thing they do to embarrass you in front of the parents..! :-)
LOL@Teri
When will you guys learn? - never try to understand women, it will only give you a headache! ;) :D
>Just try rubbing her rump, above her tail
Letting your secrets out aren't you Teri? Now we know what rocks your boat! ROFLMAO

Ah, curtains shut then. ;)
Hi Darren
My staff is male so cant shed any light on the girly version of humping. Just a tip though, I know you said that shes doing it to her bed at the moment, but you may find that this spreads to other objects/people/animals! I asked, on this site, if I should try stopping Sox from doing it and the answer was a resounding No (thankfully) but someone suggested that I allocate him a 'sexy teddy' that he can do it to. I gave him a cushion with a furry strip on it and he loves it. Whenever he tried to hump anything else, I offered him the cushion and he only does it to that now.
Hope it helps.

LOL just imagine our very big GSD bitch humping a little 15 lb cavalier dog :D
My yorkie humps his bed but when the humping has finished he stays on his bed like he is tied, even if you shout him with a tasty treat he wont come and if you can force him to breakaway he walks with stiff legs and his tail between his legs. Has he just exhausted his back legs and so staying to have a rest or does he think he is actually mating and stopping any other dog inpregnating his sofa?? He puzzles me sometimes (well most of the time actually lol).

My little boy says 'Bagsey's doing his bottom boogie!!'
He would probably smoke it! and I thought I would share my good news.... were expecting Sofa Terriers any day now. :-)

LOL :D
Bruce, my lab, has a 'shaggy' blanket which he loves!
once he has finished, he lies down and sucks on it!!
My 4 month old CKCS puppy does this with one of her plush toys, but she is rubbing against it.
I have two cocker spaniel bitches and it's the one thats broken down that mounts the other one!
>the one thats broken down
Did I read that right? What do you mean?

Some folks refer to bitches coming into season as "breaking down" :P Personally I've always found my boys
have a break down when the girls are "in" :D

Ah I see. I have never seen a male when a bitch in season is around. I can imagine it is highly amusing.

That's a new one on me! Another piece of special dog language to confuse my family with. They always seem surprised if I say 'we were chucked out' or 'we were pulled out', even though they should know by now what I mean!!

Has anyone seen the new BBC2 trailer with the furry Number humping a lovely variety of dogs? It's very amusing!!

I only saw that Thursday night - it's hilarious - the bulldog "it" was humping looked a bit non-plussed to me - PMSL ! :D
I have currently got a mad beagle who is having her first season humping the dalmatians head. She in turn then humps beagle who looks like a cartoon charecter as she is squashed Purdy is a huge beast. What really makes me laugh is when Thomas goes anywhere near her she growls and glares at him. I find it funny although it is very annoying when you are trying to watch something on TV. :)
Sorry had to bring this up again as my dog has once again managed to make me chuckle!!! He uses his old bed as his object of affection (humps it like crazy), we have since bought him a new bigger bed as he has grown so much. He has now decided to take his old bed to bed in his new bed..... Who said romance is dead hes showing her "old bed" a bit of respect and comfort.. lol
Funny to see him snuggled up on a bed with a bed (confused??? I am)
