Have recently 'inherited' a yorkie who has Cushing Disease.  She's on a host of tablets and is very well at the moment.   However, I'm not really that sure what Cushings is.  I do know it has something to do with the adrenal glands though.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Guest,

Sorry to hear about your bitch :(  try this link http://www.2ndchance.info/cushings.htm  It may be worth doing a search on Yahoo to see if they have a group site - they have several groups dedicated to specific canine illnesses which can be great sources of information and also much needed support.

Good luck, Teri :)

I had a westie who had cushings. She was drinking uncontrolablly meaning we then had wet floors at first i thought she was diabetic but the tests showed no. It was about 4 weeks after the cushings was diagnosed i was adamant the wee dog was diabetic another test was done the diabetis showed this time. We could not stabalise her on the insulin and in the end we lost our baby she took a diabetic fit and had to be pts. We lost our faithful freind at the age of 7.

I had a number of dogs with Cushings in the parlour.  The one who had the longest and best quality of life was a Yorkie who was treated by Chris Day, the homeopathic Vet in Faringdon.  Coincidence?  I've no idea. :)  I hope that yours can have a long and happy life too.
