Spice has her name, our house no. & post code and telephone no. on her disc, plus she is chipped, but the other evening we had a problem with a 'stray' Spice and hubby 'picked up' on their evening stroll! this other young collie followed them home, it was too nervous for hubby to catch, but when they got back here I managed to coax her to me and looked at her collar, her tag said SCAN ME, nothing else!

She came into the house ate Spice's leftovers from tea ( usually I've cleared the bowl after Spice finishes her tea,so she was lucky to get a little snack! ) :D she drank at length from Spice's bowl and promptly threw herself at my feet and curled up for her stay.

As neither the vet or police are open here during the evenings, we decided to try to locate her owner, hubby put her onto a lead, left Spice behind as she may have been a distraction :D and he set off walking the route he had taken when she joined them.

He said he was telling her to 'find mummy' and eventually she pulled him to a house,by now it was about 11pm, but the house had a collie picture on the door and he thought maybe this could be 'home'. He knocked and a man came to the door and said ' that's my dog, what's she doing with you,we left her in the garden!' Apparently she had been left outside at about 7pm and they didn't even know she had gone missing?
I would miss Spice if she disappeared for less than 10mins!

Anyhow the dog is reunited with the owner, she was a late christmas present called Holly and was 8months old! a beautiful little girl who could quite happily have stayed in my house ;) if the owner hadn't been located.

The point of the post is,if we'd had a house no.post code or even a telephone no. on her tag it would have been so easy to reunite them sooner! luck was on our side that she knew where she lived and that it was local!

Hopefully they have learnt a lesson by it all and now have her disc amended?

My dog has my phone number and address on her tag,as advised by puppy training class, which i hasten to add i ldecided not to go too as didnt like trainers attitude towards the dogs, and researching any literature i could find, she is also microchipped.
