I am currently doing a survey of the top companion shows (no matter where) and would love to hear your top ones.

I am doing two categories.

1.

Sorry about that i hit the wrong button and off it went.  I tried to edit but it failed.

I am actually looking at three categories.

1.  Your favourite show where you always seem to do well - Mine was Shepperton (not on this year)
2.  Your worst show - Ripley Village Event for me 5 years with 4 dogs and not even pulled out in any class pedigree or novelty, only went this year because i forgot it was this particular show must do big sign for next year and the same happened.
3.  The show that gives the best value for money e.g. prizes etc or perhaps the friendliest show.

I know this won't appeal to everyone but i am very interested to see if there is a clear winner or loser.

Thanks

fave it's letchworth extraveganza...well it's within walking distance and I got BIS, although also got chucked... :D

Worst  won't mention...Luckily it's not running anymore!

No idea of best value for money, but it wasn't the worse show! :D

Is the Shepperton one at the riding stables ? I took my Irish boy there last year and he got a 3rd in a HUGE puppy class, I was well chuffed :D   We also won a huge cuddly duck on the raffle which Fagan ripped up within a couple of days :D :D

The show we have done best at are Romsey where my pup got BPIS and Fagan got a 2nd in AV sporting :) and Alton where Fagan got RBIS.  I like the companion shows which are part of country shows like the one at Romsey because then my OH doesnt moan too much about going to another dog show  I also like the companion shows which have other doggy stuff there like obedience competitions and the have a go agility :)

My favourites are : -

Hampshire Country Show, Romsey ( excellent day with loads to see and do )
Epping Council, Townmead Park, Waltham Abbey, Essex ( great show very well organised, Pedigree, Novelty & Obedience, beautiful rosettes and my boy got his Gold Good Citizen Award ( I was so proud! )
All About Dogs, Brentwood, Essex ( fantastic two day event, loads to see and do, Companion Show well organised but the classes can get very big 30 plus dogs in some )
Shield Stables, Shepperton ( firm favourite for me have been going the past 3 years, very well organised, with Obedience classes and Have a go Agility! )

My not so favourite : - Don't have any terriable ones just a bit disappointing.

Send May Fair, Send, Surrey ( nice venue but massive amount of dogs in classes took ages to get through the Pedigree Classes and was quite a warm day, not there fault though, a bit disappointed though proberly wouldn't go back next due to the amount of dogs )
Wandsworth Parks Police, Battersea Park ( a bit unorganised big gaps between classes which took ages and the Novelty judge this year had a serious case of favouritism )

Aha, I saw your Beagle in the Gold class - I was there with the Cavalier that passed and the American cocker that got up in his down stay! The classes at WA certainly looked very good, I was quite miffed that the GC testing took all my time and I couldn't enter anything. Next year.....!

Hi LucyD,

Oh, I remember seeing you too, I always notice Cav's as my first dog was a Cav called Claude! I was so nervous doing my Gold as it is quite tough and I don't think many Beagle's would have the Gold Good Citizen I have only meet one other that has ( maybe I should do a Survey ). You should definatley go again next year as there were loads of classes and the Rosette's were really nice too, Bert got three, it was a very successful day for us.

Have you ever been to the Companion Show at Dorewards Hall, Essex? They are having one on Sunday 14th of August and the schedule looks really good and they have "The Fasted Sausage Eater" class Bert would love that class, typical Beagle loves FOOD! Have a look at the website http://www.dorewardshall.com/events/dogshow2.htm. Maybe I'll see you there!

1. Favourite is Coventry Ladies Baginton, friendly atmosphere with emphasis on fun. Good location.
Hatton (Leamington Dog Training) is always a good, well attended show.
This year was a bit dodgy in the ring due to hidden holes.

2. Worst. One held at Onley Park Rugby. Absolute disaster. Steward hadn't got a clue and got in a complete mix with the BIS. Weather didn't help as the wet weather facilities were totally unacceptable. Only rooms for dogs to stand, forget running. Lot of people went home early.

3. Good value. Baginton again. Everyone entered got a prize and each class winner got various prizes and bags of food thanks to contributions from food companies.

Don't really have a favourite or worse but my GSP won BIS at East Meon a few years back and won a pleasure flight in a lttle plane over the South Downs. I thought that was a pretty cool prize for a companion show!!!

Hi Baylee,

I just checked the Sheild Stables website and Shepperton is on again this year on Saturday 10th September!! Great news, I was so disappointed when I thought they weren't having one this year, I'm really looking foward to it!

Thanks Bertbeagle,

I hope i wasn't tempting fate by saying i do so well there, i'll probably be thrown out now, especially if the Judge has got goldren retrievers (never got a place under one yet), ah there's another survey!!!

I look forward to seeing you there.

My favourite used to be Binfield (nr Warfield Berks)exemption show..
Prizes were great, classes huge, atmosphere lovely.
Ran in aid of the local scout group and organised by the Ryslip kennels.
I won BIS in 1995 still have a wonderful trophy and won RBIS there with
a different dog in 1999 again a nice trophy, not sure if it still runs.
The prizes were brilliant and most importantly all that entered in junior handling
got a prize even if not placed.

Show that I don't like Bradfield May Fayre exemption show...
The show is held at the same time as May Fayre and they had cannon fire
which frightened my then puppy...never been back since.

How about the one at Calander World Highland Games held every July??? Usually 4 Pedigree classes and about 10+ novelty classes. By bitch won the AV Pedigree Puppy out of a class of 10 1st time out!! Really nicely organised show, with rosettes donated fronm local businesses. Think it's already been on this year but one to remember for the future for any Scots ;-) Do a google search andm you will find information on it.

Best was Baginton was definately a brilliant day out, lots of friendly people there.

Worst has got to be one held at Walsall held by greyhound gap their 1st show was far better that they did last year.

Value for money got to be King hussein of jordan show the prizes were excellent and well worth the £1 entry.
