I have 2 dogs, 2 that 2 years old by 3 months (westie and a mini schnauzer). We have just got another puppy (9 weeks). They all get on o.k until my oldest (westie) plays with the puppy. When they start playing the mini schnauzer gets really shirty stands over my westie and and they begin to fight. All teeth and noise, no biting yet but standing on their back legs while doing this. My wesite is top dog and the schnauzer 2nd in line and always has been . I can believe the schnauzer is protecting the puppy as their is no loyalty yet. What do you think. He also had a go at my cat when he was playing with the puppy. He has never liked dogs fighting and has a go if any get silly together at agility classes but I have never seen him fight with our other dog like this. They have only ever had about 3 fights since we had them 2 years ago, and this was over silly stuff. They have a fight a day at present but only when westie starts playing with pup.

hi,
dont know if this will help but i read on here once that its quite common for 2 males to fight that are the same age once they get to adolesence.around 2 yrs. so it may just be that the mini schnauzer is challenging the westie for his position as top dog. i dont have a solution for this sorry, but im sure some1 who has experienced this kind of problem will be along to help soon! :)
