Topic Other Boards / Foo / OH's 30th birthday - what do I buy ?
- By ClaireyS Date 25.07.05 09:40 UTC
My OH turns 30 in a couple of weeks - and he isnt really looking forward to it :( for his birthday we are going away camping for a few days with a few of his mates and his sister.  We are going to decorate the tents in balloons and stuff for his actual birthday and we might get his mum to come down ;)  I am really stuck though on what to buy him, im not particularly flush and really he has everything, his only hobbies are camping and  chelsea football club   so I might get him one of those mini kit things for the car from the boys but I wanted to get him something special from me.  He has recently bought himself two watches and isnt really into jewellery so I am completely stumped :(

I have about £100 to spend on him if anyone has any ideas I would be most greatful :)

What about one of those Red Letter Day thingys? My dad won one once and he got to pick one he fancied doing,  he went on a Stars Wars simulator and  loved it :D

I've just looked on the website and they have some great experiences...think I may drop some hints to my parents even tho my birthday isn't until May!!!!

Or you could put the £100 pounds in a lovely birthday card and then he can choose what he wants to spend it on :-D

I usually buy him clothes, he does like my taste (infact he wont go shopping without me ;) ) so I will use this as a last resort :)

Red letter days, this was something I was thinking of ive done a couple of rally experiences and they were fab - but I am a bit of a girl racer ;)

I know the skid pan days are about £100, they are great fun...i'm a bit of a girl racer!

Men are so hard to buy for.... my OH is 40 next year (me only 24!!) so he's a little touchy on the subject!!! Men get really miserable round there birthdays!!!

If he loves camping what about a suvival weekend, tank driving (might be to expensive but fun!) paintballing with his mates, quad biking which you could probably book near a place you are camping as a surprise. POsh camping knife like a leatherman, or gadgets from online gift ideas shops put in mens gifs into google that might come up with some ideas. I do this sort of thing everyyear for my Dad, Brother and OH!!!

tank driving sounds fun, we were talking about this at the weekend I couldnt believe he had never been in a tank

I'm thinking of doing a red letter day for my hubby, maybe a balloon ride or a 4 x 4 day.  I did a rally day for my son, he really enjoyed it but know he thinks he's a rally driver! :-D

What about some photos?

We went to a place called 'Venture' they have places all over the country and do really cool modern photo sessions - we took the dogs along and we all enjoyed it. The photos are fab too, really different and vibrant compared to the traditional sit together poses you normaly expect from a photo shoot.

I think their gift range starts from something like £25 and that includes the session and a desk size photo - you can then chose to upgrade size/frames if you want :)

(lol i should get commission on that post :D)
