Topic Dog Boards / General / Our Dogs paper should be ashamed!
- By sam Date 22.07.05 16:14 UTC
OurDogs should be ASHAMED that in todays edition they refer to HRH The Princess Royals EBT as   "princess anne & her  English pit bull"   :(   :(
I mean if the dog press cannot get it right how on earth does one expect the plebs at the tabloids to do so???

What else could you expect from a paper owned by David Cavill ;)
- By Natalie1212 Date 22.07.05 17:03 UTC
Who is David Cavill? I have got pictures of Cruella de Vill flashing through my head :D

Natalie DC is a very big person in showing and judging...I don't complain about him! ;)
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 22.07.05 18:52 UTC
When you say 'very big' Rox are you talking in body or head or mouth - hehe :)  As you can tell not part of his fan club!
- By ice_queen Date 22.07.05 21:12 UTC
:D I won't say because I think his a great judge ;) Only IME.  He also likes my handling style and has asked me to give novice handlers training at a show before they go into the group! So I cannot complain really.  Have no other reason to like him!

I could tell you were not in his fan club LOL.  Can't see how you gave that impresion! ;)

Can someone please tell me what pmsl stands for,and what about et al. :)

Thanks :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.07.05 12:52 UTC
PMSL is text-speak for 'P*ss My Self Laughing', and 'et al' is Latin for 'and others' (abbreviated from 'et alii'). It's often seen when referring to athe authors of a particular article.

It is obvious from the comments that many here are not Our Dogs readers. I saw the item mentioned and if you look properly you will it is a quote from a national Daily paper. Below I have a quote from the chief reporter of Our dogs Mr Nick Mays.

The answer from the Chief Reporter - it was partly a repro of a report in the Times, so it's their mistake in the first place. The correction to Bull Terrier was obviously overlooked at setting stage. It will be corrected in the next issue, because OD is meticulous in getting things right and that was just plain wrong. As one correspondent says - tabloid talk!

So, it wasn't our article as such, but mistakes do sometimes slip in. Unlike "Fleet Street" though, we acknowledge mistakes and correct them.

Abject apologies to HRH and to any mortally offended readers.

Dont read it, but if its anything like the utter tripe and incredibly bad editing found in Dogs Monthly, i cant say i am surprised!
