Can anyone tell me if they give raspberry leaf tablets to their pregnant bitches? My girl is just into her sixth week of pregnancy and I have been told by some to give the tablets and by others not to.

I did once and had nothing but problems with the birth and the litter so I would never use it again.  I know some people who think it's wonderful though.

I know it is used in humans as a means of relaxing you and bringing on contractions during labour. It is recommended to be drunk (if, obviously you take it as a tea) when contractions start, or if you are overdue, as a means of bringing on contractions. I am not trained in herbalism, but I work with people who are and I know it is incredibly effective. I am totally uncertain whether it is suitable for use in dogs however!

I always gave it to my bitches when they were in whelp and never had any whelping problems.

Same here - I have used it for the last 2 litters and they have had no probs.  However, in the past I have not used it and had no probs either.  IMHO it is very important to have the bitch as fit as possible before mating and keep her fit during her pregnancy.

I start my girls on it 3 weeks before they are due, so you might need a bit longer ChloeH.....lol.

3 weeks??!! I can't drink that stuff for 3 weeks - baby Archie will think he has an Earth Mother type if I drink herbal tea for 3 weeks LOL :D

its horrible stuff isnt it, :) i drank about 3/4 cups aday for just over 1 week. not sure if thats why i went so early but i was 1 week late with my first and 3weeks 3 days early with alex after drinking the tea. :) hope it hurrys up and works for you chloeh. :) youle have to send us some pics of little archie wen uve had him! good luck x
