I did this about half an hour ago on a few different sites even though I'm addicted to huskies for life! I was just seeing if these sites reckon that I match my breed. It was an absolute laugh! I did about eight different questionnaires and out of them, Siberian Husky came up only twice! It does state that they shouldn't be used for final choice and only as a guideline but it came up with breeds suited to me that I'd never even thought about owning! Although, the husky did get the majority by one point lol. Here's the breeds I was recommended:
Flat Coated Retriever
Irish Setter
English Setter
Airedale Terrier
Saint Bernard
Scottish Deerhound
Great Dane
Newfoundland
Border Collie
Siberian Husky (Came up twice)
Gordon Setter
GSD
Japanese Akita
Bernese Mountain Dog
It's great fun to do and see what these sites come up with!

I've done a few of these and my breed never come up  even when I try to 'make' it that they come up (and they are listed in the options ;) ) Most of the breeds I get recommended I would actually never want to own for various reasons
Exactly the same as what I found myself doing once I'd done the honest answers and as you said, my breed wouldn't come up. There's a few on the list that I just gave that I'd never want to own either and I have no idea why they came up. Especially as I selected "Large dog" on each questionnaire and ended up with "Giant" dogs such as Bernards and Danes!

Same here. I have treid and tried to describe my own breed yet have never had them come up. I seem to be advised some of the breeds I really couldn't live with, even if they were the last ones on earth.

They're rubbish! I've tried several, insisting that I'm only interested in smooth-coated breeds. Apparently my first choice should be a Rough Collie! No offence to rough collies and their owners, but really! Smooth coated?!
I did get Aussies up once, but not as the first choice, always get R.C.s first! :D

I've tried putting medium/small breed, easy care coat, some grooming, sporting, active etc (my Bedlingtons :D ) and get recommended anything from a Shih Tzu

to a Newfoundland/ Bernese Mountain dog, now I'm all for versatility but how on earth do these dogs qualify for sporting, active and easy care coat?
I just hope that people don't actually do these tests and then go out a buy one of the breeds that they have been selected! What a mess that would be!

Unfortunately I think they probably do :( I would like to know how these tests work, as why do breeds with all the wrong traits come up as a match???

I usually get dalmatians and dobes on these tests - I already have a dobe and I'm angling for a dally in a few years! they aren't always way off :D
I didn't even cheat on the answers and would you believe that the most suitable breed for me is (drumroll please...)
Whippet!
Cashie's very pleased as I've just told him he won't have to go to Battersea after all :) .
Now I just have to get myself a Boston Terrier, a Beagle and a Basenji and the family will be complete.
Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't! I'm guessing that for the majority it's turned out to wrong!
Or perhaps, we're the people with the wrong breeds and the questionnaires are right ..............nah!

The first one of these tests I did recommended a Dalmation. Now, I like Dalmations an awful lot bet I also know enough of then to know that they're not the dog for me.
The second one I did gave me this list (in this order)
Bracco
OES
Gordon Setter
Great Dane
Dog De Bordeaux
Shar-Pei
Leonberger
Standard Poodle
Briard
No Newfies in there but at least it recognised my preference for large breeds, I suppose. Have only recently learned about Braccos (thanks to Dogdeli1 :) ) and think they are gorgeous but not convinced that a gundog is for me. I really hope people wouldn't pick a breed on the strength of one of these tests...

Me too, that would be a potentially awful situation if they did. I'm certainly doing as much research as I can before any dally (or any dog, of course) comes home, even if it's years away - I made the mistake of not reading enough before I got my dobe, and 2 years on I'm only just now coming out of the problems not knowing enough has caused me!!
At least you can admit that you've made that mistake Nikita! Whereas other people buy the dog, find they know nothing about them and give up with the dog ending up in a rescue centre 8 times out of 10.
Well done to you Nikita for sticking with your Dobe and learning something new every day instead of the dog learning something new every day (such as a small part of the concrete wall of his/her shelter home kennel he/she may not have sniffed yet :( )
