hi everyone one well it looks like today is the day. my bitch has been panting for half an hour, is very restless, she is occasionally whining(which she doesnt usually do) and she has destoryed her bedding quite a few times.so looks like im in for a long day. i will keep myou all updated. oh did any see blue peter they showed one of the dogs having pups it was great.
Ooh good luck I've got everything crossed for you and your girl :d
Oh you must be so excited :D and probably a little nervous ;) I hope all goes well for your girl and her pups :D
she is still panting. i am waiting on her water sack to burst or appear. she seems to be doing well hopefully it wont be to long now.

This first stage can last for up to 48 hours, remember! ;)
JG you beat me to it, I was about to say she could still be like this this time tomorrow, I hope not and that things progress quickly.
Good luck

Mine started at Midnight Wed/thursday night and didn't ahve first pup until 2.25am Friday.

hope everything goes to plan! weve got pups coming in about 2 wks. havent a clue how 2 help her give birth! any tips?
Hi guys,
We are still at stage one looks like a long night,
She is whining at more regular intervals and digging frantically at the paper in her box. (and at the hole in my garden LOL)
resting and having regular drinks and seems more ready now than earlier.
Called the vet - will be changing vet after this (but thats a whole other story)
Kelly, I would buy the Book of the Bitch or Dog Breeding, the Theory and Practice, by Frank Jackson. both are excellent in their different ways and its good for the different opinions. The dog breeding theory is good for after care and book of the bitch is fab for all stages of whelping. Sure other champdog folks can reccommend other fab books.
Its all exciting tonight will keep you posted

Congrats :D well my bitch kept walking about after having our first little boy she seemed to prefer giving birth standing up and walking about alot so it dident really matter .then she went for a c section for the other 8 But I have read you should leave pups suckling as it helps the bitch give birth .
Good luck :)
Thanks Lovelylady
we have a Black Male now
both are suckling away making their little noises,
decided to leave the pups with mum, think thats best - but
when the next one comes, if Kiara is especially vigarous then might move them (i have a basin with some towels in)- guess will wait and see,
all my plans and didnt think of that! hoping now there isnt anything have else have missed/overlooked!
Its strange have been planning for 18 months and waiting for 9 weeks and now its all happening its weird but great!!!!

aww thats great :) a little boy and girl :P you can never prepare yourself enough for somthing like this :P lol Now its going to be fun , and lots of late nights like me . but when you get them there all lovely they keep you going looking how cute they are :)
Well, 2 more Black boys have made it out, they are all feeding,
Bit worried though cause they seem to be crying a lot - is this normal, breeder told be they would be really quiet and am concerned about this.
Hopefully there will be a girl pup soon so the brothers dont pick on their poor sister LOL
1 birth has been assisted as puppy 3's front right leg was stuck, but with a little help he was fine and headed straight for the milk, hungry chap
put the pups in a heated box next to her so she doesn't crush them when she is birthing the next pup. In between let them nurse.
Congratulations, keep us posted
Have been putting them in a box that has a heated bottle at the bottom - plenty of towels wrapped around it though and they seem to like it if there is a towel draped over them a bit.
Well got my wish twice - two yellow bitches - 10 minutes apart!
I think that may be all there is but of course could be very wrong,
I can beleive how anxious im being - helped with other litters and grandparents have had litters when i lived with them.
Guess its cause kiara is my girl,
well mum is giving all the pups a good bath and feed. it funny how all the yellow were girls and all the blacks were boys.well i'm gonna try and get some rest maybe an hour or so sleep. night to you all.
wow just about to go to bed and out pops numbers 7. he was the only one to come tail first. and to fit in with thw rest of the litter he is a black male. woohoo well done to mum. they are all about the same size and look very healthy.
number 8 arrived at 6:01 a black female. she is slightly smaller than the others but seems to be very healthy. i wonder if any more will pop out????????????

Congratulations to mum and you! I assume you are getting a quick snooze in.....you must be exhausted! When you get some time, pics would be really nice...... well done again :D :D :D
congrulations on your little pups hope mum and pups are doing fine, my bitch kara had nine of them 7 boys and 2 girls.
Hi glad alls gone very well good luck with your new pups warm regards debbie. nantobe58 glad all fine with you puppies, i hope you have got lots of pennys ,they will eat you out of house and home lol regards debbie.
Well done to you all, bless :d
we have all had a quick sleep. mum has had a small meal and a drink. she is reluctant to leave them to go to the toilet but i expected this. i have called the vet and am getting everyone checked over tomorrow at ten. i dont think there will be any problems. the vets is keeping the surgery empty for me so the pups dont come in contact with any infection. mum is feeding and cleaning them well and looks very proud of herself. i am proud of her too cause i know there no way i could have had 8 babies. i going to go get something to eat,and a quick wash i am on puppy watch till 7 when my other half gets in from work, then she can take over. luckly she has the day off on friday so we can both get rest over the weekend.
thank you all
i hope all you pups, new mums and expectant mothers are doing as well as mine are.
Glad its gone so well, give mum and pups a cuddle from me x
congratulations iccledevil2004 on the birth of your 8 puppies, glad everthing went ok! :)

I never move my pups j8ust try and keep them out of the way of proceedings and dry. My bitches would go ape if you treid to tek a pup away from the whelping box.
Have to say that I too always leave the pups in with the mother. Lana was so cute when she was pushing because she was lifting her back leg over the pups as if not to squash them she's a brilliant mother. Have to say though that she's only in the cage whilst she needs to be as she keeps on wanting to come out to chase her toys and to eat all day :d
Congratulations :-D :-D :-D i bet your so proud.
Congratulations on the safe arrival of your new puppies :-))
