have a read of the first post on the Breeding forum of this site (entitled "Should I use my pet dog at stud?")

Then he'll have to have a good hip-score, clear eye certificates and an excellent show or working record before bitch owners wil even consider him, especially at his age. There are very many champion goldens available at stud, and he'd have to be offering something more to the breed than they are.

There are also thousands of poorly-bred goldens out there. :( Basically the easiest (and by far the cheapest) way of getting a pup like him is to go back to the breeder you got him from and see if you can get a closely related pup from there.

Goldens should also be elbow scored and preferably heart checked as well -and you must know that no littermates or parents are affected by PRA as he could be a carrier otherwise even if his own eyes are clear. It all costs a lot of money -I don't know what other vets charge but I was quoted well over £400 for the hip scoring and elbow scoring alone, so all in all it would be a lot less stress and a lot easier to simply buy a related pup. :)

As you are unsure of his age, do you have his papers?
