Please can you help?
My sister has a West Highland Terrier,he is 2 years old.
He has almost complete loss of hair, and his skin is very flakey. He has been to 3 different vets, all say this is an allery, but no one knows to what.
At the moment he is on steroids as this is the only thing that helps.
He is a super little dog with a huge problem, has anyone any experience or helpful advice
Thankyou

Hi guest, what food do you feed him on?  The best food in my opinion is james well beloved and add a little tripe,  there's no preservatives or colouring in it or even walfcol hypo allerginic food you can get these from pets world, it's trial and error really.  What do you wash your floors in because it could be the chemicals you use, so try washing his bedding in non biological soap powder and wash your floors in it also.  It could also be carpet fibres.  Grass can make them itch also so try not to walk him on grass just concrete for now to see if you see any changes in his condition.  Has he been treated for fleas these little nasty things can cause irritation with one bite so make sure your up to date with his treatment.  Try shampooing him in tea tree oil this is good for dogs with allergies.  But always make sure you rinse him propperly dont leave any shampoo in his coat so it doesn't itch his skin.  I hope this helps you a bit.  What you need to do is find out if it's something he eats or comes into contact on his body.

Warm regards Susan
