Coco is 9 weeks old and last night was her 2nd night with us. She went in her playpen and settled down after a few whinnings, I then went up to bed. All was quiet until about 2.10 when I heard her howling and kinda barking as puppies do. I thought I'd best leave her as don't want her getting into ther habit of her howling and we come running. 30mins later she is in full vocal chord and my son had woken too, so I thought maybe she needs to go to the toilet so we got up to her.

She was delighted to see us and started jumping up, when I realised her puppy pad was soaked also her water bowl was empty and she had done a mess too. Her belly was very wet too. So we took her outside and she thought it was playtime (not likely at 2.40am) but she did do another mess and a wee and we fetched her back in, her bed was cleaned up and a fresh pad put down, I put her in to her pen and said night night and she was fine for the rest of the night.

Her tummy doesn't look too bad this morning now its dried not dirty or anything, so my question is am I ok to give her a bath or is it too soon.

I'm no expert Tracey but I did bath Oscar at that age because he got himself in a pooey mess, just be prepared she will shrink, Shih Tzus coats are so thick they shrink to nothing when wet. I used a puppy shampoo and made sure he didn't get cold, he dryed very quickly in the garden in this type of weather.

Hi, i bathed Blue about a week after i picked him up, he was 9 weeks then, i used a puppy shampoo, but now i use johnsons baby shampoo as i find it makes him smell nice, he looks really nice and shines like the sun! and is sssoooooo soft :)

I bathed a 9 week old puppy after she fell into some wee.  Just keep the water warm and make sure she is dry before you let her outside.  Also good with her while she is young to get her used to the bath routine including blow dry after?

Our litter was only a couple of weeks old when we had need to bath them.  They were fine.

I also used wetwipes on a regular basis to "freshen up"!

we bath our puppies from 5 weeks, there fine as long as your careful and it also will get them used to it.

I bath my puppies form 8weeks old, I think my little one who is now 12weeks
might have more baths than some children. She has been bathed again
this morning after digging the plant pots out! you could not tell she was
a samoyed. But!! being white and on the cream carpets, can't let any of
them get to dirty.
She loves it, she still fit's in the sink at present so I'm lucky, not for long though!!
Then stands while I hair dryer her, and brush her, she look great for a few mins.
You have to bath them as they sit in there wee, ect; this weather, they would
smell awful.

Hi everyone well I can honestly say Coco is smelling much better as she has had her first bath and didn't like it one bit, and yep she did shrink, looked quite comical too then she went skitso trying to rub herself on everything.

Soon dried and became soft and fluffy again. Not forget sweet smelling (used Johnsons baby shampoo too)

Yes, I use Johnson's as well on my puppies, and always on the older dogs
heads and faces. That way I can rub all round there nose and eyes, as they
are always mucky! Depending on how dirty or what dirt, I have used fairy washing up
liquide in rest of them at least it get's some of the dirt off shampoo doesn't.

My Lhasa Apso (Cookie) is nearly 10 weeks old now and we bought him home when he was about 8 weeks.  We bathed him on the second day and since then, he's had about 3 baths now cos' he's had a few poop mess on his bum.  We use Johnsons baby shampoo on him and it makes his fur really clean and soft.  He's starting to get use to it now.

Our Lhasa, like the Shih Tzu, also looks quite funny when his wet through, he looks so small compared to the little fluff ball he is usually. :)

I understand what you mean John, every time Coco has a poo I am running after her with the wet wipes, coz its so easy for her fur down below to get matted. In fact she needs cleaning think I will add it to my daily grooming list to wash her bum too.

Gotta love her, today she was sat on the bench in town and because she is not allowed on the floor I was worried as she was whinning and I knew she needed the toilet, well bless her she weed right there on bench, caused a right puddle as well

I'm glad things are going well Ioxia :D What has she completely destroyed up to now?!!! ;)

She hasn't destryoed anything yet, just plays with her toys. She plays with up but doesn't bite, maybe I will be complaining that she is next week but for now she doesn't. She has mad bursts of energy and sleeps a lot and my vet said that was normal for her age. She is going for her 2nd jab tomorrow I hope she is ok and it doesn't hurt too much.

Can't wait to take her to the park, carrying her everywhere is not good for my back, not that she is heavy its just you hold her a certain way and it aches your back.
