
A family pet can be show quality or from a litter where that was the aim. You should never settle for a pup that was bred without trying to breed the best possible typical healthy specimins who will all be pets, but some may be shown too.
Your bet bet is to contact the breed clubs for a list of reputable breeders. Parents shoudl be eye tested and I would think Hip scoring should also be carried out to help prevent hereditary disease. there is another condition called dermoid sinus which ethical breeders will take steps to avoid producing.
The club secretaries will aslo be able to advise if they knoiw the repoutaion of any breeder who you may find advertised, so helping ensure that you are not inadvertently lining the poclets of people out only to exploit the breed.
