I am moving house on monday.  When we were selling the lady who bought it said she didnt want the wardrobes, however until today when we have dismanteled them we forgot we had taken off the skirting board to fit them right against the wall.  Does anyone legally know if I have to replace it, i have been to some shops today to get a piece matced however they all say the same it is a funny size and they dont do it and the ones they do dont match so cant even fix it for her.  I am really worried that if I leave it the way it is she will invoice us or take us to court or something...can anyone help

No idea, I would speak to your estate agent, they would know. I would have though as it is not permanent structure and fittings you shouldn't have to replace it but it would be a nice gesture if you could. Sorry not much help I know. :-)

Just to settle your mind a bit, I am not 100% sure, but as long as you haven't said you will make the space where the wardrobes were, then it is her tough luck. Unless you want the wardrobes, or they have been damaged whilst being dismantled, why don't you put them back up? We have never had the choice of what fittings or fixtures came with a house, they were either there or not.

No you don't need to replace them, this would have been picked up on when/if they had a full survey carried out. When I bought a previous house I only paid for a basic survey, and when I moved in I was horrified to find that where the previous owners furniture had been there was either no skirting boards or floorboards missing, not to mention the walls covered in polyfilla. I learnt my lesson and when I bought this house I didn't feel embarassed asking the owners to move the furniture around.
Good luck with the move.
