Hi need your help can i enter my dog in AV pastoral without putting her in AVNSC pastoral? I have 2 Aussies and thought i would put one in AVNSC and the other in AV Pastoral. This is a none group show and there are no aussie classes

Hi,

I can't help you with the classes, but just wanted to say hello, I am hoping to get an Aussie puppy before the end of the year! Always nice to see someone else with them :D

Nat :D

My poor hubby goes to shows under protest LOL One of my girls is Armatan bred and the other is Applethorn, they are both blue merles although one is a very dark merle the other is a nice silver blue

I think blue merles are gorgeous, they are slowly but surely taking over red tri's in my books!!! :D

The blacks were my least favourate at first, but now having seen quite a few in the flesh, they are growing on me quite a bit.

Tara would be most upset - she's a gorgeous black tri - despite, or perhaps because - she's mismark :D  :D My next Aussie will be a blue merle - but not a lumpy one :D

Tara is a beauty!! :D

I know what you mean by a lumpy one!! There are some very nice blue merles and then others can be a bit less impresive.

I find the whole Aussie breed standard about colour very confusing :) Some of the merles seem to be have quite solid blocks of colour and this is permitted. Tara has too much white going down her back - but she is otherwise lovely and won her class in a field of 12 (junior pedigree) in the only exemption show that we put her into. I have been told that she has very good conformation (doesn't mean a lot to me :D ). Some of these breed standards do seem a bit strange to me :D :D

The KC rule is F(1)3.53/9.j
<A dog is not eligible for entry into Variety Classes(excluding AVNSC claases)unless also entered & subsequently shown in a Breed Xlass where such a class is provided for which it is eligible>

there are exceptions but as there are no breed classes you can either entry AV or AVNSC or both as you wish

  Thanks Moonmaiden
Its just that AVNSC counts as a breed class for group shows, and when we are counting points for Show certificate of merit It had me thinking such a grey area !!!!

LOL I have a book a big red book lolol so looking things up is easy ;)
- By kayosville [gb] Date 15.07.05 17:14 UTC
So AVNSC can be confusing it is classed as a breed class sometimes and sometimes not LOL

Don't forget, Shiela, that if there is a Rare Breeds classification, you can enter that - but in my experience, the organisers put the Rare Breeds in just whereever they have a gap - could be right at the beginning, or right at the end of the show!

Margot

(and in case I've not told you, Natalie, we've got 3 black tris & 1 blue merle ;)
- By kayosville [gb] Date 15.07.05 19:08 UTC
Hi
Thanks Margot we very rarely see a class for rare breeds up here !!! I was trying to split the girls up !!
And sorry guys if your "lumpy" blue merles referes to the ones that have a lot of black in them then my Arwen would be very upset as would her ever growing fan club !!! She is classed as a blue merle with copper points and white, but is mistaken as a black tri by many, and im sorry but I think shes beautiful !!!!!!!!!

Arwen is lovely - and I admit - I thought she was a black tri first time I saw her!  No mistaking my Madam blue merle, though - she's the gobby one!

yes we love Arwen to bits, but it was very strange at first as she would be classed as a mismarked in my other breed !!! Fleur is what everyone expects a blue to look like and she is the gobby one, wonder if its the colour LOL!!!!
