I woke up this morning and thought, "oh lovely, another sunny day" now I wish I hadn't bothered getting out of bed! My angelic three year old son (that I could easily throttle right now!) decided he was going to put the plug in the bathroom sink and run the tap! The water has caused damage to the cabinet the sink is built into, the carpet (which to be fair needed changing anyway), the wooden floorboards under the carpet, the joists inbetween the floors, the ceiling in the kitchen, all down my newly plastered walls, down through the combi and the extractor fan, down the back of my 18 month old kitchen cupboards, and all through the grout on the floor tiles :( Of course it worked its way into the electrics so I turned it off, now we have a fridge and freezer full of soggy food, and have only just had the all clear to put it back on again :( Next time I wake up and think it is a nice sunny day, I am going to turn over and go back to sleep!

Sorry just had to get it off my chest! :D

Oh dear, Natalie :( At least he is only three - my daughter left a, still running, shower head dangling over the side of the bath when she was 14  The first we knew was when the downstairs lights fused and water was pouring out of the ceiling. It took a few hours detective work to solve the mystery of what had happened (daughter had disappeared off to the cinema letting us believe that the pipe had burst) by which time hubby had ripped half the bathroom out to try to find the leaking pipe

Hopefully the warm weather will help dry things out. Can you claim on your insurance ??

He did the shower trick a couple of weeks ago, but that luckily didn't cause any damage, although the carpet was soaked!

But this is a different buscuit all together!! We have already put the claim into our house insurance, they sent out a sparky to check the electrics, he gave us the all clear to put them back on, but now we have no lights, after he went and it got dark went to put the lights on and there was nothing! Goodness knows what tomorrow will bring!

Oh dear  Is he forgiven yet ? :D

Get on the phone to your insurance company if you haven't already done so !

I know how peed off you must be as just dealing with a washing machine flood which has ruined my 4 week old expensive laminate flooring

It is a nightmare LJS, it's not the money because apart from £100 excess the insurance will cover it, but it is all of the mess and whatever work may have to be carried out. We have done quite a bit of work in the house, the last room to do was the bathroom, although it wasn't in a really bad state, so we decided we were going to leave the bathroom till next year and have a bit of a break, not so anymore!
- By LJS Date 14.07.05 06:28 UTC
Oh well perhaps see it as a bonus that you will get it all finished now ;)

It is not nice though as all you want at the end of the day is a home that doesn't resemble a building site :)
- By ice_queen Date 14.07.05 07:34 UTC
At least you will have a brand new re built house for the puppy....... :D Think of it that you are doing it to benifit the puppy!!!!!!!
- By Natalie1212 Date 14.07.05 09:45 UTC
I don't think the puppy is going to happen, at least not from our breeder :(

Now the water has dried out, there doesn't appear to be too much damage, the kitchen will want re-painting, the cabinet the bathroom sink is built into will want a new base panel, the carpet will want changing, and a fuse for all of the ceiling and walls lights has blown, but hubbie can sort that out tonight, so other than that I think we will will get away with putting a cheap bit of lino down in the bathroom for now, then we can carry on with the grand plan next year!

Even though the grand plan did include a puppy! :(

Awe Natalie, what happened to the puppy plans?
- By Natalie1212 Date 14.07.05 10:13 UTC
Well I'm not 100% sure, we are waiting for news that I just don't think is going to come. Trying to stay positive, but as the days are turning into weeks, I don't think it is very likely.
- By ShaynLola Date 14.07.05 10:16 UTC
Hope you get some good news soon then. You could certainly be doing with it after the last couple of days! Will keep fingers crossed for you :)

Oh dear Nat........... you poor thing...... :-(
I hope you manage to get all the bathroom etc sorted....... What an absolute nightmare !!!!!!!

Thanks Gabrielle, he isn't smiling at all, he is absolutely full of a cold, and I *think* he has croup. We are off to the doc's this evening, IF I can ever get through to the receptionist!

Shaynlola, thanks I have everything crossed for some good news!
- By Gabrielle Date 14.07.05 10:27 UTC
Aw bless him.......... poor Thomas....
No news is good news Nat, if it is 'meant to be' it will be........ :D
If not, start looking again....... there are a couple of litters due in the next couple of months, so all is not lost....... or you could wait and see what happens with your current breeder........ Chin up !!!!!!!

Keep Smiling,
Hugs Gabrielle x

He is quite poorly, he is asleep now, but I am on tender hooks waiting for the next bout of coughing.

I am probably just jumping to my own conclusions with the puppy, I suppose I am getting ready for the bad news! I can't really start looking again until I know for definate either way, I don't want to offend our breeders, whether it has worked or not, and I kind of feel like I am 'going behind their backs' even by talking about it on here!! Although I will admit I have been keeping eyes and ears open for news of any other litters that are due/planned, just in case it doesn't work out. The really stupid thing is, is that if it doesn't work out, I feel like the next breeder we decide on, will feel like they are second best, as we hadn't picked them the first time round, I know it's stupid, but that is me!!!

Anyway as you say, if it was meant to be, it will be, I just wish it would hurry up a bit!!! :D
- By Gabrielle Date 14.07.05 10:44 UTC
Just sit back and wait......... hard I know !!!!!!! :D
I have two litters passed on to me that are due in August, so they are an option if everything falls through, but you will probably find that everything will go to plan and all the worrying will be for nothing !!!!!!!!
Contact me if you need to.......
Hope Thomas feels better soon,
Hugs Gabrielle x
