Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Suitable Breed?
- By Guest [gb] Date 13.07.05 12:37 UTC
Hi -

I live in Oxfordshire and I'm currently thinking about having a Fox
Terrier but there are a few questions that I have first that I'm hoping
you can answer for me to help with my decision.

1) My partner and I (no young children) do both work full time although
quite flexible as to location, i.e. we are able to work from home occasionally.
Obviously, I appreciate, ideally any dog should have company through the
day but is the Fox Terrier as a breed content to be left alone for periods
of time during the day?

2) Is the breed naturally destructive - by that I mean prone to chewing
your furniture etc!!!..

3) Average age span?

4) Availability of puppies and cost?

5) Availability of adult dogs?

Many thanks in advance for your help...

Kind regards,
Gwyneth Coker

Your best bet would be to contact the breed clubs of the two breeds of Fox Terrier (Wire-haired and Smooth-haired). They're the experts who'll be able to give you the best advice. You can find details of the breed clubs at the bottom of the following Breed Standards:
Smooth-haired Fox Terrier and Wire-haired Fox Terrier.
