If you read to the bottom of the topic on the bbc website, you'll see that it was first thought that the dog was an ampt but that it is now unclear as to its breed.

Unfortunately many non doggy peopel (including many of my own family) beleive that Staffords are Pitbulls, or anything remotely looking like one is a Pit bull.

We have even see on this board people claiming they ahve met Pitbulls, or suspect their neightbours have them, when in fact they probably ahve poorly bred Staffies or staff or bull breed mixes.

Exactly Brainless, if they were so easy to recognise there wouldn't have been all the court cases with loads of experts for and against trying to decide whether dogs were pitbull types or not.......

I think they are now implying the dog/dogs were "bulmastiff types"

The dog breed, in a sense, is irrelevent, no matter what breed it was, the papers would have said (once they got it right, I think I have already heard it to be 4 different breeds! ) The point I think Margot was making by posting about the story, was that some poor little boy had been killed, and the family needs all of our prayers and thoughts.

Correct me if I am wrong Margot :D
