HI ALL, just wondering when you can wean pups at to start giving them baby food etc. Also id like to know when its ok to put them outside in a pen , in the nice weather? thanks

you can start encouraging puppies to eat semi solids from as early as 14 days, they wont eat very much and they will make a mess lol, but it helps get them used to eating so that when their teeth begin to come in at around 3 weeks, they are able to eat from a dish.
Puppies can go outside in the nice weather from around 4-5 weeks, but make sure there is ample shade, fresh cool water and your puppy pen is 110% secure as puppies can be little escape artists and can squeeze through the tiniest of gaps :-)

well i have built a good pen outside with good shading and a bedding of hay. they are only 2 weeks old but they are akita pups so far bigger from normal pupies they can walk about and all have their eyes open so would it be ok put them out for a  couple of hours a day. As the bitch is usually kept outside and has been crying to get out some days.

I personally think 2 weeks is a little young. Do you intend for the puppies to be outside unsupervised? Please be aware that this can be dangerous as there have been cases of puppies being stolen from gardens, playpens etc, so please dont leave them outdoors when theres no one to watch over them just a bit of advice for you as dog theft is heartbreaking and all too common these days :-(

hi i am glad your pups are doing well.  i just wanted to say i never use hay as i often contains hay mite and other creepy crawlies. they can be hard to get rid off and cause alot of discormfort to pups.just thought you should know. have fun with your pups mine aren't due till the 23rd.
