Im not sure how it all works....if you get a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an open show do you get any points?

Do you only gets points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in champ shows?

How does the how CC thing work...Im very confused......

CC's are not on a point system.  You can only win these at champ. shows if CC's are on offer for your breed.  To win a CC this means that your dog won BEST DOG or BITCH at a champ. show with them on offer.

Point system works for the Junior Warrant though. 

The Junior warrant points are only gained from wins at Championship & Open Shows in breed classes & getting BOB in some cases I think

I've taken the giant leap into the dog show world and feel very very lost!

My bitch has been doing open shows and has came 1st, 2nd and 3rd and we are doing our first champ show so I just like to know what it all means if anything! :)

How old is your dog.
Junior Warrant points can be gained up til the dog is 18 months old, so you have to be out on a regular basis.
Points are given for firsts and you need a first at a champ show and a first at an open show then a combination of both adding upto I think 25 points or there abouts. Someone on hear will know more.
To qualify for Crufts generally you require a first to third at a champ show or get Best In Show or Best Puppy in Show at an Open Show.
Let us know what breed you have as some breeds only qualify with a first or second at champ shows. Some classes at Champ shows are not Cruft qualifiers. If you look on the Kennel Club of Great Britain or on previous posts on CD then you can read all the information.
In terms of CC's. The schedule for the Champ Show will tell you if CC's are being offered for your breed.
To make your dog a champion you need 3 ccs under three different judges.
Please look at previous posts as there are more knowledgable people on here.

Wow there is so much to take in

Basically Junior Warrants are awards for puppies/juniors between 6 & 18 months of age that win classes at Championship shows & Open Shows there is a claim form on the KC site

3 points for each champ show win where the breed has CCs
1 point for each champ show win where the breed does not have CCs or at an Open show(where there are at least three dogs present in the class)
1 point for BOB at open shows if there were no points available in the breed classes

25 points are needed of which at least 3 must be won at Champ shows(where CCs are on offer  & 3 at open/champ(where the breed doesn't have  CCs) shows

Just to warn you if you start on the JW route it can drive you insane.  I got my last point for Tigger with two days to spare having got the rest of the points in 4 months but she was always small at opens in comparision with the large dogs which were doing the rounds!

Just to confuse you even further - There's also a Show Certificate of Merit (ShCM)  This is gained solely at Open show level.
You need to gain 25 points, with 5 of those points being in Group competition.
you get...
5 points for Best in Show
4 points for Single Group Best in Show
Group placings - 1st = 4 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 2 points, 4th = 1 point (puppy group placings don't gain points)
1 point for Best AVNSC
1 point for Best of Breed
