The 8 pups are now five & a half weeks old, and I was advised to put them on goats milk as a substitute for mum who is not really bothering with them much anymore. The question is how much do you give them in a day? I dilute it with boiled water & it`s divided into 2 10" dishes. They always seem to want more than I give them though. They are also eating well on JWB 4 time a day. Any advise appreciated.Thanks.

For a start, stop diluting it - goats' milk isn't as rich as bitch's milk anyway!

Quantities are hard to dictate, expecially when you don't say what breed they are! ;)

I always feed my pups from individual bowls so that a) I can see how much each one is getting; b) they don't have to compete for food and so don't start scrapping over it; and c) holding each dish instils in every pup the knowledge that people near their bowl is a Good Thing and they welcome people near them when they eat.

I don't understand why you are diluting the goats milk.  Neither goat or Cows milk is anywhere as rich as bitches milk.

I use a puppy formula based on goats milk and each pup gets 1/4 of a pint a day.  My breed the pups wopuld be about 7 pounds at this age.

When weaning pups I always give them goats milk soaked in either rusks or organic baby rice to start off with in order to get their system adjusted to solids and then on to raw meats (beef).
Perhaps you should try adding rusks or weetabix to the milk which may satisfty them
