to a show????
I'm just working out my route to Paignton next week, me and Idõ are travelling down on Thursday, popping into my dads office(Wiltshire) on the way and its gonna take me about 7 hours

:D We are camping the Thursday night, going to the show on the Friday then driving home the same day.....don't ask why i decided not to stay 2 nights, a moment of madness most likely!!
So this will be the furthest ever that I've driven to a show, am really looking forward to it though...good job I love driving :D !!!
Now your turn.....:)

LOL about 1000 round trip with a GSD as we had to collect her handler on the way to Bournemouth & he lived 75 miles away in the wrong direction LOLOL it was worth it though as she got the CC :D
:D To Dublin for St Patricks day show two years on the trot...
I live in Berkshire so it took quite a while to drive upto Holyhead and then
over on the ferry....got to the show, showed my dog and then back again in the
same day on the ferry...So set off in the evening to get the early morning ferry
(245am) back in the same day and get home the following day early hours....
Only problem was last year took ill on the ferry and was on my own :(
Took double the time to get home and had to get someone 'rescue' me at Birmingham NEC..

Because I have the kids to take into consideration I can only travel upto 2 1/2 hrs(one way).I am hoping that in the future as the kids get older that we can travel further.

Not very ggood with Geography, so will give the furthest threee. I live in Bristol, and have been to Amsterdam, Kelso in Scoptland and Dublin in Ireland. All three were basically treated as a doggy holiday or Mini break.

Been to Scotland a couple of times from London, though I dragged my husband along and we made a weekend of it. Trying to work out how to get to Darlington this year - I'm trying to invite myself to a friend's house the night before, as that's a bit much for me in a day!
Been to Belfast which took about 11 hours and to scotland and back as a day trip 3 times a year 17 hours on the road. Going to Paignton will probably take longer as crap roads. We usually have all the kids with us which does make it feel longer.
As I live in the north east of Scotland ANY trip to a major dog show is a long one. We usually leave about 1.30 a.m. and don't get home 'til midnight the next day! Don't do too many, though. I need time to recover. :)

Southern Ireland for the circuit :d Stayed for the week. Must admit I wasn't too impressed their champ shows are just like small open shows over here but the weather stayed nice most of the time so it wasn't too bad. It was a 1,000 mile round trip :d

The Irish shows for me are great they are my locals ;-).. about 3 hours to the ferry then the shows are just on the other side.. takes me longer to get to Darlington for me and Darlington is one of my closer ones in the UK

Oh gosh I do huge round trips to nearly every shows. I travel to my freinds in Newcastle area which is 155 from me in Fife down the A1.. takes me 3 hours then my freind and I travel together from there to the shows which is anything from 1-5 hours and then the same coming back.
I have done 55,000 in 18 months.

:-D
WOW, we are a dedicated lot aren't we?!!! :D
I will travel upto 3 hours for an open show(takes me that long to get to Newark) BUT usually, round here, I only need to drive for 1 to 2 hours. This will be the furthest south I have even driven, upto Edinburgh for GBAS and SKC isn't that far but the roads aren't the best!
Hate to think what my fuel bill is gonna be for this trip......doesn't bare thinking about really ;)

I don't know that dedicated is the word, personally I (and certainly my husband) would say addicted and insane!!! :-)
My freind is going to paington shes got gsd's she's Beryl Kermode if you see her say hi
We live in the north east of Scotland so travelling to any shows down south is a trail.

Im quite lucky where I live as most shows such as those in the Midlands, Wales, West Country are only a couple of hours drive at the most. Scotland would be a trek which I havent done yet. The furthest was blackpool which was a 500 mile round trip (and we got binned :( ) but that was only a 3.5 hour journey :)
Im off to Paignton Wednesday afternoon, coming home Saturday maybe Sunday depending on the weather :)
4 hours to SKC, 4 hours to Builth Wells, I'm pretty central living in Yorkshire but not ventured down south yet, that has yet to come :)

Nicky...have you moved? I always thought Carnoustie was just east Scotland??????????? ;) North east, Aberdeen and above!!!!!!!

Well I live in Staffordshire and I have been to Scotland, we are going to paignton and our next shows after that are five shows in Ireland and that will be the farthest we have travel so far.

I think you win!!!!!
I live approximatly 280 miles return journey north of Edinburgh which is my nearest Champ show. I travel all over the UK and because we are a one car family I have to travel by train. I have to leave the day before the show and in most cases as I am not sure when the judging will be finished have to return home the day after. Occasionally I will leave the same day but always seem to run into yobs and drunks travelling on the late trains.
It costs me on average a staggering £300 by the time I pay for trains, hotels and taxis for each show south of the border.
Now I think that's dedication...................or madness!!
