You need to try out scissors in your own hands and see what you feel comfortable with. Personally I use quite a short blade but I have a much more experienced friend who uses a longer blade with confidence and gets the job done very well. I would suggest though that you buy the very best quality you can afford as good sharp scissors are much less likely to pull the coat ever which will ensure the continuing co-operation of your dog :)
For the serated scissors I use a single serated edge but again I think some people will say use a double, I don't know anything about micro serations, mine are just kind of middling I think :)
The Marris-Bray video is very good but I have no intentions of selling mine I'm afraid I wonder if they ever come up on Ebay? I would say though that she uses the scissors rather more than I would :) I learned most of my grooming skills at a seminar with Tricia Bentley who passes on her, rather less fashionable methods, of almost entirely hand stripping. To me a well done cocker is the one who seems to has the appearance of a beautiful tidy coat that has simply occured by nature not that I always achieve that :)
